YAMASHITA Squid Fishing Warm Jacket EGI-OH LIVE 3.0 Basic 052

As a result of extensive research undertaken by eging pioneer Yamashita, it has been identified that squid recognise temperature variations in the water. This has led Yamashita to develop a unique Egi Oh Q LIVE squid jig featuring a patented thermo-storage cloth called the “Warm Jacket”. The cloth reacts to light (any form of light; sunlight or artificial light) and will maintain its temperature for longer than traditional cloths. With the capacity to hold heat similar to natural fish, the LIVE jigs are more successful in attracting squid interest since they can recognise temperature variations when hunting prey.
The new material is called “Tactywarm”, which is woven with a unique thread able to change light into heat. It can absorb light from sunlight to artificial light, converting it into thermo energy about 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius warmer in the water, depending on conditions.

Yamashita also patented the nose design. It is the thinnest nose available on any of their jigs but does not compromise strength. This gives it the advantage of minimising water resistance when hopped, which gives the jig more action with less effort. The LIVE jerks a lot sharper when you lift the rod, generating a much better “walk the dog” action.
Other features of the Egi Oh Q LIVE include large flat eyes with a glow edge, super-fine spikes, a Hyper Direct SUS eyelet to maintain jig strength and protect against breakage or leaks, a knife-edged sinker to reduce resistance in the water, and a strike body to make it easy to retrieve the jig. It also has a much longer casting distance than many other jigs.

The latest addition to the EGI OH Q LIVE series is the 490 GLOW.
Yamashita based the material development on extensive ecological study, where the ecological wave theory was born — the idea that squid can more easily see the light-emitting color “490 GLOW”.
The “EGI Q LIVE 490” was created to increase effectiveness during prime fishing times — low-light conditions such as evening until sunset, and morning until sunrise. Based on angler requests and feedback, Yamashita evolved the 490 GLOW into a rotating light-pattern circle.

What is 490 GLOW?

Squid eyes have a superior ability to sense light. Research showed that light with a wavelength of 490 nm (nanometers) — the blue-green emission of “490 GLOW” — is exactly what appeals most to squid, even from a distance.

The “EGI Q LIVE 490” also features the famous patented Warm Jacket, which increases the lure’s temperature to match that of live bait, since it is scientifically proven that squid detect temperature increases.

490 GLOW Light Rotation Pattern

The first stage of the circle is the “Spotlight Pattern”, which provides 490 GLOW at one point — ideal during full moon or when there is sufficient ambient light such as in the evening.
The second stage is the “Luminescence Pattern”, which stands out most at night-time.
The final stage is “The Full Light Emission Pattern”, best for cloudy weather, strong tides, and the lowest visibility conditions.
