Saltiga 15 is the ultimate compact star drag overhead. Ideally suited to a wide variety of light jigging situations, the compact size and newly designed thumb rest frame design make the reel comfortable to palm over many hours of repetitive jigging.
The jigging specific features include an auto-engage system so you will never have to manually flip the gear lever, you can just go ahead and turn the handle and it will engage on its own once your jig as at the right depth. It also comes with a spool lock for when you need to get unsnagged from the bottom. Another change is the clicky drag system which lets you know when the fish is taking drag, this is especially important for both being able to land a fish but also protecting your reel and drag. This might not sound like an essential feature on most reels, but that’s only because most reels are nowhere near as smooth in their operation. On most reels you’ll feel the drag being taken, the bearings turning and so on but on the Saltiga line there is nearly no resistance in the bearings and the drags are as smooth as they get.
HYPERDRIVE DESIGN is equipped in Saltiga 15 to maximise the reels performance under heavy load, HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR increases gear strength and efficiency making this reel incredibly easy to wind.
HYPER ARMED HOUSING and HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH both combine for a solid feeling reel maximising confidence when in use. 8kg of ATD drag with click mechanism provides enough stopping power for even large reef dwelling fish that pull hard to get back down.
ATD DRAG
Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

MagSeal protection is no longer just for the main shaft and rotor of a reel with MagSealed Ball Bearings providing ultimate protection for the most at risk location such as the engine side plate and line roller.
